Spike TV Announces Nominees For 2012 Video Game Awards

Spike TV is set to air the 10th annual Video Game Awards next month, and it plans to be the most interactive television experience ever. Today, the nominees for the important awards show were announced.

The most noteworthy award, the cream of the crop, will go to either Assassin's Creed III, Dishonored, Journey, Mass Effect 3, or The Walking Dead: The Game. Aside from the Game of the Year category, though, there are a number of other categories up for grabs. Here is the complete list of categories and nominees:

Best Action Adventure Game

Best Shooter

* “Call of Duty: Black Ops II”
* “Halo 4
* “Max Payne 3”

Studio of the Year

* 343 Industries
* Arkane Studios
* Gearbox Software
* Telltale Games

Most Anticipated Game

* “BioShock Infinite”
* “Grand Theft Auto V”
* “South Park: The Stick of Truth”
* “The Last of Us”
* “Tomb Raider”

The show will be broadcast live on MTV 2, MTV Tr3s, and Spike TV. But beyond just the TV broadcasts, the live show will also be streamed to Spike.com and GameTrailers.com, as well as Xbox Live. Those watching on the Xbox 360 will be able to participate in a second-screen SmartGlass experience as well.

"This unprecedented partnership with Xbox will make ‘VGA TEN’ the biggest worldwide gaming event ever; we’re thrilled to be the first awards show presented on Xbox where our fans play every day," said the show's executive producer in a statement.
