Nicki Minaj Is Next 'Idol' Judge: Reports

Despite her strong affiliation to American Idol's arch sponsorship rival Pepsi, Nicki Minaj will be the next person to sit on the Coca-Cola-cup-toting judges' table on Fox's biggest reality competition series.

Us Weekly is reporting that the pop star is "100 percent confirmed to judge American Idol."

Other people being tossed around as potential judges, according to reports, are Pink, Diddy, Nick Jonas, Adam Lambert, and Brad Paisley. But if Minaj is confirmed, that doesn't mean those names are out of the running.

The next season of 'Idol' will by all accounts be a huge shakeup for the entire show, and we will see more than one new judge for the next round.

The biggest problem with the singer of "Starships" fame is that could viewers tune in to the show, they could potentially even see Minaj sipping from a Coke cup on American Idol, and then seeing her promoting Pepsi during a commercial break. But apparently that isn't enough to keep her from the show.

After Steve Tyler and Jennifer Lopez left the show, there is a need for some real star power, and Minaj could be what is needed to bring some life and enthusiasm back into the series.

After 11 seasons, it has become formulaic and dry, so mixing it up could be a good thing. We'll see what actually happens.
