Jerry Seinfeld to launch new Internet TV series

Set to debut July 19.

After being unsuccessful in his attempts to make a comeback in both movies and TV, Jerry Seinfeld is turning to a new avenue - the Internet. The former comedy icon is working on launching a new series that will air exclusively online.

Seinfeld has partnered with Sony to present the series through its online video service Crackle. It is called Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

Each episode of the show will feature Seinfeld having a conversation with a different comedian.

While Seinfeld became set for life after the end of his successful TV sitcom due to permanent royalties, he hasn't exactly found success in the last decade and a half.

Some of his most noteworthy projects, like the motion picture Bee Movie and the TV series The Marriage Ref, were cataclysmic flops.

Yet he still believes that if he keeps trying, he can come up with an idea that people will actually like. So perhaps something like an online video series, which only requires viewers' attentions to be held for a few seconds, might work in his favor.

The show will premiere on July 19.
