The dancefloor will get a little less beautiful next season. Dancing with the Stars has announced that former professional dancer and judge Julianne Hough won’t be coming back to season 22 of the show, which debuts in March, People Magazine reports.
Instead, Len Goodman, who sat out last season, will be back. He will be joined by returning judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
However, it doesn’t sound like there are any problems. After all, Julianne’s family (most notably her brother) are entangled in the whole show – from the dance floor to the backstage area.
Julianne recently starred in Grease Live! on Fox, and it sounds like she might be taking advantage of some of the opportunities coming her way:
“I will miss being on the panel for season 22, but have a lot of exciting stuff coming that I look forward to sharing,” Hough told People magazine. “The pro dancers, producers and crew at DWTS will always be my family.”
She won season 5 of the show when she was paired with car racing champion Helio Castroneves, and served as a judge in seasons 19-21.
“Julianne will always be a part of the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ family, and we hope to see her back in the ballroom in the future,” said show producer Rob Wade.
“I promise it’s not the last you’ll see of me in the ballroom,” Hough said.
While the lineup hasn’t been announced yet, it is hopeful that Hough will return to the show.
Derek Hough and his celebrity partners have won the competition six times, more than any other pro dancer.
