Most Popular TV Series of 2014

Some of the highly liked and most loved TV series of the present year are full of suspense and intrigue and the twists and turns of plot and characterization. They present situations of conflict and boy-meets-girl (or boy-meets-world). Every player plays his part and ultimately the protagonist meets with his fate which is good and the antagonist has a fall. If it is a series based on realism than the opposite might just happen and the villain gets to go scot free while the hero dies in the end. It all depends on the novelist’s psyche or scriptwriter’s mind. So keeping you, the avid audience at the forefront, we have collated a list of the top 7 TV series of 2014:

1. Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey

A Space Time Odyssey: It’s basically a documentary and it follows the same pattern set up by Carl Sagan in the 80s with his cosmos series. His enchanting voice may be absent from the audio part but overall it is something worth looking at in wonder. Science and especially the universe in all its starry eyed glory is revealed via this spectacle.

2. True Detective

The HBO based series features two detectives who are engaged in a highly fast paced crime drama. The constant search for a serial killer who is on the loose lends the series its harrowing quality. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson appeared in the first season and there have been additional actors who have appeared in later episodes. This television series has had a lot of praise coming its way from various quarters.

3. Fargo

This is a black comedy that has an element of crime to it like the previous number. Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman are the two main actors in the series. The former used his intimidation techniques which are both extra-violent and cruel with the latter who is a used car salesman. Everything about the dramatic show screams out suspense. Then there are two police officers who figure somewhere in the middle of things and they try to solve a case too.

4. 24: Live Another Day

This heart-stopper of a show covers the events that take place in a 24 hour period. Kiefer Sutherland and Yvonne Strahovski feature in it as sidekicks. It is all about war and counterstrikes and how the sides that are wrong and right get swapped in today’s mixed up world.

5. Penny Dreadful

Now this one positively gives one the creeps! It is set in Victorian England. Proper horror is how we can describe this Gothic tale or terror and eerie encounters. 6. Halt and Catch Fire

Set in the 80s, which was a greedy and ascendant decade, it portrays a computer nerd’s inside revelations about the digital revelation. The positivity this series has generated due to its realistic depiction of the silicon revolution is overwhelming in its intensity. Among the characters one can detect shades of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. It shows the mirror to the sedentary and obese generation that has been engendered by this freak culture of computer geeks.
