What to Watch Monday: HIMYM Breaks Bad, The Blacklist's Family Matter, Sleepy Visitor and More

Nov 11 2013, 6:10am CST | by TV Line

On TV this Monday: Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston returns to How I Met Your Mother, Sleepy Hollow gets an uninvited guest and The Blacklist and Hart of Dixie deal with family matters. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

VIDEO | Bones First Look: Witness Booth and Brennan’s First Fight as a Married Couple

8 pm How I Met Your Mother (CBS) | In a “flashback” episode, the gang ponders the Ted/Robin/Barney triangle, and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) returns as Ted’s former boss, Hammond Druthers. (Hopefully without any, um, phallic architecture plans.)

8 pm Hart of Dixie (The CW) | After Zoe and Joel find the perfect place to live, they discover it is owned by a member of Zoe’s extended family.

8:30 pm 2 Broke Girls (CBS) | When Caroline’s date to a chic new restaurant stands her up (the nerve!), she and Max decide to take advantage of the dinner reservation.

VIDEO | Beauty and the Beast First Look: Vincent Rescues a (Beastly?) Damsel in Distress

9 pm Sleepy Hollow (Fox) | Abbie gets an unexpected visit from Andy Brooks (returning guest star John Cho). Can he not have his neck snapped all the way back this time? (Watch Spoiler Alert! below for Mike, Matt and Kim’s thoughts on the Abbie/Ichabod relationship.)

9 pm Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1 (HBO) | This Veterans Day documentary profiles counselors at the Veterans’ Crisis Line, which works 24/7 to provide support to retired and active servicemen dealing with emotional, physical and financial troubles.

9 pm Mike & Molly (CBS) | Molly decides writing a crime novel will be her new career — because really, why not? — so she goes on a ride-along with Mike for research.

9:30 pm Mom (CBS) | Christy is nervous about a romantic weekend getaway with Adam, while Gabriel’s wife suspects he is cheating.

VIDEO | Castle Video: Rick and Kate Encounter a Big Problem in the Bedroom

10 pm The Blacklist (NBC) | Liz uncovers an elaborate plot to destroy the country’s financial system, and Tom supports her when a very mysterious family member falls ill.

10 pm Dream School (Sundance Channel) | Season finale: Emotions run high as the students work toward graduation.

10 pm Hostages (CBS) | While Ellen must decide whether to save Duncan’s life, President Kincaid wants to reveal details of a surveillance program that allowed intelligence agencies to spy on U.S. citizens. (Hmm, sounds familiar….)

This 'Breaking Bad' Easter Egg Is Hiding In 'Godzilla'

Sep 18 2014 4:02pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Not even Godzilla can completely overshadow Walter White. A hidden reference to "Breaking Bad's" resident meth-cooking kingpin popped up in this year's big-screen adaption of the sci-fi monster story, which co-starred Bryan Cranston. Check out the video above to see the Heisenberg-related Easter egg you most likely m ...

Breaking Bad, Sherlock, and Television's Golden Age of Anti-Heroes

Sep 2 2014 12:09pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

This year's Emmy Awards proved to be very big for Breaking Bad and, at least numerically, a little bit bigger for Sherlock. The BBC's updating of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic detective carted away seven Emmy Awards in the miniseries and television movie categories, one more than Breaking Bad, one of the critical shows in this golden age of television, for its final season as a regular dramatic series. But the AMC drama garnered the biggest award, that for Best Dramat ...

In Honor Of That Emmys Makeout, Here Are 8 More Epic Seinfeld Reunions

Aug 26 2014 12:43pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Even anti-dentites could appreciate the mini "Seinfeld" reunion that happened at the 2014 Emmys. For a moment, Bryan Cranston and Julia Louis-Dreyfus seemed to reprise their old "Seinfeld" roles of Tim Whatley and Elaine Benes as they shared a kiss that stole the whole night. The two also got together recently for an Emmys sketch that had Cranston opening up a pawn shop with Aaron Paul, but there are many ...

'Sherlock' Dominated Without Benedict Cumberbatch, And More Emmy 2014 Facts

Aug 26 2014 12:08pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Many of us banked on a buzzy new show like "Orange is the New Black" or "True Detective" steering the post-Emmy narrative, but instead it's a middlebrow British crime series in its third season. "Sherlock" was the night's big winner, with seven awards. The BBC series toppled HBO's "The Normal Heart" to win two acting accolades (Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman) and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseri ...

Grading The Highs And Lows Of The 2014 Emmys

Aug 25 2014 10:44pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

We all hate the Emmys now, right? They were pretty rank this year. We expected great change to grace TV's biggest night (a strong Netflix showing, a lack of "Modern Family" victories), but we were left with the exact opposite. Seth Meyers' hosting job was a letdown, and the only perfect thing about the show was it ending two minutes ahead of schedule. Here are this year's highs and lows, scored on a scale of 1 to 10. ...

The Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series goes to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her role in "Veep." Dreyfus defeated Lena Dunham, Edie Falco, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler, Taylor Schilling for the win. This is her fifth Emmy win overall and third for "Veep." Before taking the stage, Julia Louis-Dreyfus made out with Bryan Cranston. Earlier in the broadcast, Cranston and Dreyfus joked about the actor's guest appearance on "Seinfeld," wher ...

Daniel Radcliffe Disguised Himself As Spider-Man To Hang Out At Comic-Con Anonymously

Jul 28 2014 4:05pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Daniel Radcliffe just Peter Parker'ed himself. Apparently, the actor dressed himself in a Spider-Man getup -- complete with face mask -- and walked around at the San Diego Comic-Con convention in secret. Radcliffe was in town for a panel on his latest movie, “Horns,” when he seized the opportunity to hit the floor in costume. It was the former "Harry Potter" star's first visit to the gathering, ...

'Breaking Bad' Said No To Casting Phillip Seymour Hoffman And Other 'Huge' Names

Jul 25 2014 1:16pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Gus Fring? Michael Cera playing one of The Cousins? Yeah, it almost happened. The "Breaking Bad" casting team finally got some Emmy love this year after making Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul household names. While it's about time the series was recognized for its stellar job in finding the perfect leading men by going against the grain and casting (at the time) relative unknowns, the show's casting d ...

Why 24 Lived Another Day and Will Live Again

Jul 24 2014 12:54pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

With comments from the head of the Fox broadcast TV network this week to the effect that he is looking forward to another season, it's clear that the return of 24, which wrapped up a 12-episode limited series run last week, has been a real success. Given that the show had seemed near played out when it ended its eight-season run four years ago, the question is why the longest-running espionage TV series in history seems still to have a lot of life left in it 13 years after it fi ...
