Larry Marano/WireImage for Pangea Lounge(NEW YORK) -- In an interview that airs Sunday on Watch What Happens Live, reality star Teresa Giudice opens up about how she and her husband are dealing with their criminal charges, facing the possibility of decades in jail for alleged fraud.
Andy Cohen told the Real Housewives of New Jersey star that even he’s gotten emotional about her situation./>/>
“I can’t fall apart Andy,” she said. “I have my daughters, they mean the world to me.”
Teresa Giudice, 41, and husband Joe, 43, were indicted in late July on 39 counts, including conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, and bankruptcy fraud. The feds allege the couple exaggerated their income in a 2001 mortgage filing, then later hid income when they filed for bankruptcy./>/>
Giudice has kept her life business as usual, attending book signings in New Jersey and hosting clubs in South Florida since the charges became public.
“I’m asking, ‘Why is this happening to me?’ she told Cohen. “Maybe something that my daughters can learn from this is, ‘My mom was really strong through all this. You know, she was there for us.’ I hope they will always have that with them.”
Giudice has four daughters -- Gia, Milania, Gabriella and Audriana.
The Giudices plead not guilty last month to the charges, which also accuse Joe of allegedly failing to file federal tax returns from 2004 to 2008 when it’s reported he earned almost $1 million.
At a September hearing, U.S. District Judge Esther Salas set a trial date for Oct. 8.
Teresa Giudice’s attorney Henry Klingeman agreed with his client back in September that her children are her top priority right now.
“She’s concerned, but she’s taking care of business, taking care of her children, getting ready for school,” he said. “I’m confident we’ll have a really strong defense. I’m confident in her.”
