What to Watch Tuesday: New Girl and 4 Other Premieres, Covert and Suits Finales and More

On TV this Tuesday: New Girl‘s season-opener goes south quickly, The Mindy Project Season 2 features Dr. L.-times-two, Dads move in, Brooklyn Nine-Nine responds to the call, Covert Affairs goes on a long op and Suits button up for a while. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features, here are 10 programs to keep on your radar tonight.

8 pm Dads (Fox) | Series premiere: Seth Green (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Giovanni Ribisi (Friends) are business partners and childhood best friends whose lives are thrown into chaos when their dads — Martin Mull (Roseanne) and Peter Riegert (Animal House) – move in with them.  Brenda Song (Scandal) and former TRL host Vanessa Lachey co-star. 8 pm Whose Line Is It Anyway? (The CW) | Chloe Butler and Monique Gaxiola from the Legends Football League play ball with Ryan, Wayne, Colin and guest comedian Jonathan Mangum (The Drew Carey Show).

8:30 pm Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Fox) | Series premiere: This new comedy follows Det. Jake Peralta (played by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg), a carefree cop whose work life changes when a by-the-book new captain (Homicide: Life on the Street‘s Andre Braugher) aims to whip Peralta’s precinct into shape. The supporting cast includes Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris) and Melissa Fumero (One Life to Live). 9 pm Covert Affairs (USA Network) | Midseason finale: Annie heads to Frankfurt, and Auggie’s the only one who has her back; Calder and Annie finally face off. (Watch a sneak preview!)

9 pm New Girl (Fox) | Season 3 premiere: Nick and Jess revel in their new romance on a Mexican beach getaway… which quickly ends when Nick gets into trouble with the law. Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) returns as Schmidt’s former (and current?) squeeze, Elizabeth. (Get scoop, more scoop and even more scoop!)

9 pm The Chase (GSN) | Season 1 finale: The Beast prepares to slumber… but first, one more round of carnage! (Already renewed.)

9:30 pm The Mindy Project (Fox) | Season 2 premiere: James Franco (Freaks and Geeks) debuts as Dr. Paul Leotard, an OB/GYN (and sex therapist?!) who replaces Mindy at the practice while she’s in Haiti with Pastor Casey.
