Charles Norfleet/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Actor Matt Bomer says he's grateful and touched by the fans who started an online petition to have him cast as Christian Grey in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the best-selling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, but he's looking forward to seeing Sons of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam in the role.

On Monday, Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were officially announced as the casting choices to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie./>/>

Many fans of the book expressed their disappointment in the casting and started a petition on Change.org to recast the film with White Collar's Matt Bomer and Mad Men's Alexis Bledel in the lead roles.

Bomer spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the petition. He said, "I'm so grateful for the fans and touched."  He added, "I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota."

So far, more than 60,000 people have signed the petition posted to Change.org.  It reads:/>/>/>/>

"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING."

Filming on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie reportedly begins Nov. 5 in Vancouver.
