Sarah Silverman Pens Obituary for Her Dog

Sep 5 2013, 3:12pm CDT | by ABC News Radio

Jeff Vespa/Getty Images For GQ(NEW YORK) -- Sarah Silverman isn't known for being particularly sentimental, but after her beloved dog, Duck, died on Tuesday, she showed off her sensitive side by penning "an obituary type thing."

"14 years. My longest relationship. My only experience of maternal love," she wrote on her WhoSay page. "My constant companion. My best friend. Duck."

Duck was a Chihuahua pug mix whose muzzle had gone white with age.

Silverman, 42, adopted Duck from a no-kill shelter in Van Nuys, Calif., 14 years ago when he was about 5 years old. Since then, "we have slept most every night together," she wrote, and though he'd recently gone blind and deaf and developed arthritis, he seemed comfortable. Then he stopped eating, and Silverman realized it was time to "let him go."

"My boyfriend [comedian] Kyle [Dunnigan] flew in late last night and took the day off from work to be with us. We laid in bed and massaged his tiny body, as we love to do – hearing his little 'I'm in heaven' breaths," she wrote. "I told him how loved he was, and thanked him for giving me such happiness and for his unwavering companionship and love."

Then the veterinarian administered a lethal shot.

"I held him and kissed him and whispered to him well passed his passing," she wrote. "I picked him up and his body was limp – you don't think about the head – it just falls. I held him so tight. And then finally, when his body lost its heat, and I could sense the doctor thinking about the imminent rush hour traffic, I handed him over."/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>

Chelsea Handler Is Really Sick Of Journalists' Sexist Questions About Women In Comedy

Oct 9 2014 2:54pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Chelsea Handler has a message for journalists everywhere: all women are not the same. Until she stepped down from her post at E!'s "Chelsea Lately" in August, Handler was the only woman hosting a late-night talk show on television. As she told HuffPost Live's Roy Sekoff on Thursday, her gender often seemed to be the only thing interviewers wanted to talk to her about. "This isn't a reason for leaving [my show ...

Sliding into this episode, Kevin pays his urologist a check-up visit to discuss his past low testosterone issue and how the Andro-lube has been treating him. Things get real awkward when the doctor starts fondling Kevin to make sure everything is a-okay downstairs and he mentions his boyfriend. Flustered, Kevin starts spitting out nonsense and basically comes off as a huge homophobe. Where's Ruxin to call Kevin out for his crap when you need him? ...

Sarah Silverman Explains Why She Stabbed Al Franken At 'SNL,' And It Still Doesn't Make Sense

Oct 3 2014 11:11am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Sometimes a story that sounds crazy turns out to have some logical explanation behind it. This isn't one of those times. While on "Late Night," this week's "Saturday Night Live" host Sarah Silverman explained to Seth Meyers why she once stabbed Al Franken in the head with a pencil while she worked at the show. It's pretty hilarious and should serve as a reminder to current "SNL" cast members not to leave th ...

John Early Does The Best/Worst Interview With Kate McKinnon

Sep 29 2014 9:02am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

The secondhand awkwardness is real here, folks. In this sketch from Above Average, John Early interviews "Saturday Night Live" star Kate McKinnon in her dressing room at "The View" -- but won't let her get a word in edgewise. McKinnon plays along with hilariously palpable discomfort. One thing's for sure: we're delighted to see McKinnon back in action on SNL; the show's 40th season premiered this past Saturday with Chr ...

The Simpsons: Watch Season 26 Episode 1 Online

Sep 29 2014 5:56am CDT | Source: TV Fanatic

The Simpsons got off to a surprisingly sad start on The Simpsons Season 26 Episode 1, as producer Al Jean and company proved they were not liars: They really did kill off a key character. No, it wasn't a true mainstay of the series, but Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky, Krusty's father, is no longer with us. No wonder the installment was titled "Clown in the Dumps," huh? The tragedy took ...
