Jon Stewart Returns to "The Daily Show"

Sep 4 2013, 6:22am CDT | by ABC News Radio

Larry Busacca/Getty Images for NARAS(NEW YORK) -- After taking a three-month hiatus to direct a movie, Jon Stewart returned as host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show on Tuesday night.

Sitting in his familiar seat, Stewart joked to the audience, "I've missed you so much.  You don't know what it's like in the real world.  Nobody applauds every stupid, little f***ing thing that you do."

Stewart also took a few moments to praise his summer fill-in, Daily Show correspondent John Oliver.  He brought out Oliver and told him, "I knew exactly how you would do.  I'm just so happy for you and happy for the show.  You did a great job."

After Oliver recapped the highlights of his stint as host, it was business as usual for Stewart.  His guest was Andrew Harper, head of the United Nations' refugee agency in Jordan.

Stewart had been in Jordan shooting a drama titled Rosewater.  In a nod to his recent whereabouts, Tuesday's episode of The Daily Show began with a sketch in which a bearded Stewart greeted Oliver and spoke in an odd Middle Eastern accent.

As Oliver tried to help Stewart return to his normal self by using a defibrillator, among other things, Stewart transformed into various characters, including a Southern man defending Paula Deen's use of a racial slur; a Smurf; Adolf Hitler; and Miley Cyrus, as she appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards.  Eventually, The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert was called in to save the day.

After Stewart finishes out the week on The Daily Show, he will head to the Toronto Film Festival to shop his movie to prospective foreign buyers, according to The Hollywood ReporterRosewater, based on a true story, focuses on the arrest of a journalist in Iran while covering an election protest./>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>

All nine living members of the Wu-Tang clan reunited on "The Daily Show" last night to perform a new single, "Ron O'Neal," from their upcoming album. Jon Stewart even managed to find a table that was big enough to host everyone. Raekwon, GZA, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna gathered together to talk about their anticipated record, "A Better Tomorrow," which they announc ...

Jon Stewart Blows The Lid Off Reagan's 'Immediate' Response To Russian Crisis

Jul 22 2014 9:25am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

What would Ronald Reagan do? Apparently, it doesn't matter because conservatives will remember it differently anyway. In his coverage of the crisis in Ukraine and the downed Malaysian airliner, Jon Stewart couldn't help but notice how quick the GOP was to blame President Obama, and wax nostalgic about how President Reagan handled a similar crisis with Russia much differently. Only, they're totally wrong about everything. Fortunately, Stewart provides a histor ...

Jon Stewart Rips Sarah Palin's Call For Impeachment, But Not For The Reason You'd Think

Jul 18 2014 10:24am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

For Jon Stewart, the most surprising part of Sarah Palin's recent Facebook video wasn't her call for President Obama's impeachment, but a certain analogy she used to justify it. After Palin compared herself (or America?) to a "battered wife" who must say "no más" to Obama's handling of the current immigration crisis, Jon Stewart welcomed "Latina Sarah Palin ...
