James Franco Gets Roasted on Comedy Central Special

Sep 3 2013, 6:54am CDT | by ABC News Radio

TIZIANA FABI/AFP/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- James Franco's acting and his stint as co-host of the Academy Awards were mocked by numerous comedians and actors during a Comedy Central roast of the actor that aired Monday night.

The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco included appearances and plenty of jokes from Jonah Hill, Nick Kroll, Natasha Leggero, Aziz Ansari, Jeffrey Ross, Sarah Silverman, Bill Hader and roast master Seth Rogen.

Here are some of the evening’s highlights:

Kroll kicked off the roast by joking about Franco's habit of squinting.  He warned the audience: “A quick reminder that if at any point tonight if James fully opens his eyes there will be six more weeks of summer.”

Rogen said to Franco: “Look at me doing all the talking while you sit there doing nothing.  I feel like I'm co-hosting the Oscars with you.”

Silverman mentioned Robert De Niro, Sean Penn and Julia Roberts and joked: "These are just some of the huge stars that James has worked with that didn’t want to be here tonight."

Hader came out dressed as a rich industry executive who called himself “The President of Hollywood.”  He took a shot at Franco’s much-criticized stint as co-host of the Academy Awards, saying, “You did the impossible, you made me like Anne Hathaway.”

Ross provided the most relentless attack of Franco on a number of topics.  Ross said Franco was “half Italian and half asleep.”  Ross also joked about Franco's first job at McDonald's: "That’s the last time anybody said about your work, ‘I’m lovin’ it.’”  Ross also mentioned Franco’s movie, Oz the Great and Powerful and joked, "All the time in the theater I was thinking, ‘there’s no place like home.’”

Franco told the assembled stars and audience: “I agreed to do this roast because I wanted to do something I've never done before -- something that has zero artistic value, something nobody will remember three months from now, something that's offensive, homophobic and stars horrifically untalented people and something that's only a big deal to a handful of teenage stoners on Twitter.”

The special was taped Aug. 25 in Los Angeles.
