American Horror Story: Coven: Fresh Spoilers on the Feminism-Focused Third Chapter

Aug 2 2013, 5:18pm CDT | by TV Line

The first details about FX’s American Horror Story: Coven, the bewitching third chapter of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series (bowing in October), trickled out Friday at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour, including the identities of several key characters and fresh intel on the female-driven plot.

“There’s a feminist theme throughout Coven,” teased exec producer Tim Minear, who was joined on the panel by returning Horror vets Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson, as well as newbies Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. “There are also themes of race and oppression and family — especially mothers and daughters — along with laughs and scares and a few tears.”

Lange confirmed that she will indeed “play a witch,” adding, “I’ve shot two days so far, so I don’t know who the character is yet. It comes in little dribs and drabs.”

Paulson will portray Lange’s daughter, named Cordelia (think King Lear, not Buffy/Angel), while Bassett will play Marie Laveau, a character loosely based on “a woman in the 1800s who was very influential in the city,” the actress explained. Lastly, Bates will channel infamous 1830s New Orleans socialite and serial killer Madame LaLaurie.

“I would say that the fun quotient is higher this year,” noted Minear. “[It's still] a drama, but there is a lot of humor, and we are embracing a velocity and fun with the series this year. It might be a little bit more welcoming to an audience.”

Oct 30 2014 8:46am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

First it was announced that Naomi Grossman's Pepper from Season 2's "Asylum" would reprise her role for "Freak Show" to reveal the character's origin story. Now, Entertainment Weekly has announced that Lily Rabe will join "Freak Show" as Sister Mary Eunice, ...

American Horror Story Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Edward Mordrake Claims a Freak

Oct 29 2014 11:00pm CDT | Source: TV Fanatic

American Horror Story Season 4 Episode 4 concluded the tale of Edward Mordrake, and the tale of Twisty the Clown, or "Twisted Clown" as my closed-captioning called him. (Yes, I watch TV with closed-captioning. I recommend trying it!) Through Edward Mordrake's hunt for the Halloween sacrifice, we filled in the histories of several of the freaks of American Horror Story: Freak Show, and with only a handful of nit-picky complaints from me. ...

American Horror Story Season 4 Episode 1 Review: Monsters Among Us

Oct 8 2014 10:37pm CDT | Source: TV Fanatic

When I woke up this morning, I wasn't afraid of clowns. Now, as I think about going to sleep tonight, I'm terrified of them.  I didn't expect American Horror Story: Freak Show premiere to be the most frightening of the anthology series. It was more bone chilling than I remember any of the previous ones. It was the clown! Though, the killer Siamese twins and the angry Jimmy Darling didn't help either. American Horro ...
