Comic-Con 2013 Roundup

Jul 22 2013, 7:28am CDT | by ABC News Radio

Joe Scarnici/FilmMagic(SAN DIEGO) -- San Diego's Comic-Con 2013 is in the books, and as always, the convention's star-filled Q&A panels attracted thousands of fans eager to get the latest scoop on some of the biggest films on the horizon.

Fans weren't disappointed: ABC News Radio was on hand as the stars and filmmakers broke news and gave sneak peeks of their films.  Here are some of the highlights:

-- Marvel stunned comic fans by giving them their first glimpse of Guardians of the Galaxy, its upcoming sci-fi action film starring Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt, as well as Star Trek's Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro, and Michael Rooker, to name a few.  Pratt says he snagged the role sixth months ago, but immediately had to get to work on his physique to convincingly play the leader of a team of intergalactic heroes.  He recently tweeted his hard-bodied progress.  "They were like, 'Great job, but you're too fat!'" he joked, "and I was like, 'All right, I can work on that.'"

-- Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and her Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson were among the stars on the panel for that hit film's sequel, Catching Fire.  A kiss between the co-stars was anything but sexy: "There's all this snot coming out of my nose, and when I go to kiss Josh...it connects to his mouth," she laughed.  "It's awesome."  A new trailer for Catching Fire, which opens this November, debuted at Comic-Con.

-- On the panel for next year’s Amazing Spider-Man 2, star Andrew Garfield likely got some lawyers' Spidey senses tingling when he was asked where he’d like to see the web-slinger go next.  Like the comics he loves so well, Garfield said, "I'd like to see him with The Avengers, but I'm not allowed to say that."  That's legally impossible in theaters now, as although Spider-Man and The Avengers are both Marvel properties, they belong to different movie studios.  Spidey is with Sony and The Avengers are owned by Disney.

-- Speaking of superheroes, Hugh Jackman was on hand for a Q&A for The Wolverine, where he was asked to give fans a taste of what Wolverine: The Musical would sound like.  The song-and-dance man was happy to oblige, singing, "I'll slice ya! I'll dice ya!"

-- Bryan Cranston did double duty, plugging both Breaking Bad and next year's Godzilla.  On the latter panel, he told the crowd of more than 6,500 in San Diego why he was drawn to the project, saying he always loved how "unapologetic" Godzilla is about dishing out destruction./>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>/>
