“Dark Knight” Named Best Superhero Movie

TM and © DC ComicsPhoto by Ron Phillips(NEW YORK) -- Director Christopher Nolan’s 2008 film The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale as the caped crusader and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, is the best superhero movie of all time, according to a new survey by Ranker.com.

More than 7,000 respondents were asked to rank movies about superheroes, including masked vigilantes, costumed crime fighters, and peace protectors.

Nolan’s 2005 flick, Batman Begins, is ranked second. The director’s third Batman flick, The Dark Knight Rises, is fifth.

This year’s superman movie, Man of Steel, comes in at number 25.

The survey ranks a total of 113 movies. Alec Baldwin’s 1994 film, The Shadow, was at the bottom of the list. He played the title character, a 1930s crime-fighting vigilante.

Here’s a rundown of the top 20 superhero films, according to Ranker.com:
