Paula Deen on Today: I Would Not Have Fired Me

Appearing on NBC’s Today this morning after backing out of her originally scheduled Friday drop-by, Paula Deen said that if she had stood in Food Network’s chef clogs, she would not have fired her amid recent accusations of being racist.

“Would I have fired me? Knowing me? No,” she told Matt Lauer, when asked how she would have handled the situation.

Deen said she has been the target of “very, very hurtful lies,” and later maintained, “No, no I am not” racist.

“[I believe] every one of God’s creatures was created equal,” she attested. “That’s the way I was raised, that’s the way I’ve led my life.”

During the Today talk, Deen contradicted the courtroom testimony she gave some 30 years ago and which surfaced this week, insisting that during a 1986 bank robbery — and only then — did she use the N-word, in addressing the African-American robber who held a gun to her head.

When Lauer inquired if there was perhaps a not-so-sweet side to her personality that she has never let her public see, one that would let slip with such racial epithets, she rebuffed the notion, saying, “I’m not an actress.”

Surveying the attacks on her over the past week, Deen suggested, through tears, “There’s someone evil out there that saw what I worked for — and they wanted it.”

Are you buying what Deen is now selling? Did her Today appearance improve her sullied image?

$650,000! Are you Kidding Me?!

Oct 14 2014 5:13am CDT | Source: ftvlive

TV Guide is out with a list of the highest paid TV stars and it should come as no surprise that actors sit at the top of the list. TV Guide says that new ABC Anchor David Muir is making $5 million a year. Which is interesting, because Scott Pelley at CBS has a lot less viewers and makes $2 million more than Muir does. Then again, Robin Roberts has more viewers than Matt Lauer and makes $8 million less than Lauer's $2 ...

Video: Behind the Scenes of Sharknado 2 With Matt Lauer and Al Roker

Oct 3 2014 8:57am CDT | Source: TV Guide

Sharknado 2: The Second One featured almost as many celebrities as flying finned fish, including Kelly Osbourne, Wil Wheaton, Andy Dick, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan. But perhaps the most memorable of the cameos were Matt Lauer and Al Roker. With remarkably deadpan performances, the Today show cohorts (playing themselves) charted the shark-filled storm's bite into the Big Apple, providing some ...

There Is No Mystery to The Mysteries of Laura

Sep 24 2014 11:48am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

The network fall television season is underway. I know this because NBC gave us a special sneak preview of its most heralded show this season, the Debra Messing vehicle, The Mysteries of Laura. I cannot deny that I have been chomping at the bit for the premiere of this show since I saw the "hilarious" poster all over Los Angeles and then New York City with the brilliant catch phrase, "Catching bad guys, Raising ...

Really NBC?! A Phoner?

Sep 11 2014 5:50am CDT | Source: ftvlive

If you ask me (and no one did) there is nothing that makes a TV station look cheaper than doing a phone interview. With all the technology today, doing a phoner makes a TV station look like AM radio. What is even more shocking is when a network newscast does it.Of course, I can see when you have a foreign Correspondent in the middle of nowhere doing a satellite p ...
