alum Amy Brenneman has joined the cast of The Leftovers, the HBO drama pilot from Lost boss Damon Lindelof and author Tom Perrotta.

Based on the 2011 novel of the same name, the prospective series examines life on Earth after a Rapture-like event takes place, though not as it’s supposed to.

Brenneman will play Laurie Garvey, a woman who leaves behind her police chief husband (Six Feet Under‘s Justin Theroux), kids and life to join a mysterious cult, our sister site Deadline reports.

Also joining the cast is Emily Meade (aka Fringe‘s Ella), as a high school mean girl unfazed by the apocalyptic happenings.
