Keck's Exclusives: A Mad Men Murder?

Jun 9 2013, 9:48am CDT | by

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is well aware of fan speculation that Don Draper's wife, Megan (Jessica Paré ), will be murdered on the June 23 season finale of the AMC drama. Tongues started wagging after the May 26 episode, in which Megan wore a T-shirt with a red star — the same as that worn by actress Sharon Tate in a 1967 Esquire article, two years before she was stabbed to death in L.A. by members of the Manson Family. Also, in the May 19 episode, Don's daughter, Sally, was seen reading Rosemary's Baby (the movie version was directed by Tate's husband, Roman Polanski), and on June 2, Don hallucinated that Megan told him she was pregnant (as Tate was when she was killed).

"It's just a coincidence," says Weiner. "Rosemary's Baby was a best seller, and I've wanted Megan in a real T-shirt [from the era] for a couple of seasons." Plus, he says, "We're not yet in 1969, so [no Manson] this season. He's not in New York." True, but actress Megan could easily end up in L.A. "There's a lot of death on this show, and sometimes the audience mistakes symbolism," Weiner says. "I hope the audience finds our finale intriguing and emotional."

'Are You Here' Trailer Previews Matthew Weiner's First Post-'Mad Men' Project

Jun 5 2014 2:11pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Awardsline/Deadline Screening Of "Mad Men"
Matthew Weiner actually wrote his first post-"Mad Men" endeavor, big-screen comedy "Are You Here," over a decade ago, before Don Draper even existed. The film is finally getting out there and stars Amy Poehler, Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson dealing with familial dysfunction (Weiner's specialty). Wilson stars as Steve, a womanizer who helps his unstable best friend, Ben (Galifianakis), cope with his father's death. Poehler plays ...

Mad Men To the Moon: Classic Series Returned To Form in 2014

May 27 2014 10:10pm CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Bert Koenders the Development and Cooper
After a couple of seasons which sometimes found me grinding my teeth in frustration over my decision to write about the show, Mad Men's seven-episode 2014 season-let, officially Season 7, Part I, has been very satisfying. That was especially so with this year's finale, "Waterloo," set around the communal celebration of a high point in human civilization, ending in dramatic success for our heroes and heroines. ...

'Love Can Come To Everyone': The Heartbreaking 'Mad Men' Midseason Finale

May 27 2014 9:23am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Bert Koenders the Development and Cooper
"Mad Men" was so sneaky sad during the first portion of its final season that it's no wonder the soul-crushing mid-season finale ended in a musical number. The drama this year was second-level stuff, the kind of sleight of hand usually reserved for card tricks. It's the "Wizard of Oz" in a snazzy grey suit: pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. That's been the crux of "Mad Men" from the beginning, of course. The pilot ...

'Mad Men' Finale Review: Dance Fever, Burgers And Space Travel

May 26 2014 2:26am CDT | Source: Huffington Post

Jim Parsons Rings The NYSE Opening Bell
Do not read on unless you have seen the seventh episode of "Mad Men's" final season, "Waterloo," which also serves as the show's 2014 finale (it returns with seven episodes in 2015). We all know that when a "Mad Men" episode is heavy on business intrigue and office politics, it's usually a winner, but even by that standard, "Waterloo" may have been entirely too much fun. Jim ...
