Lindsey Vonn isn't letting major knee surgery slow her down.

The Olympic skier, who crashed at the super-G in Austria on Feb. 5 and underwent surgery two weeks ago, told Today's Matt Lauer that she still hopes to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. "I struggled definitely the first couple of days after the injury, but I have something to look forward to. Right now, my goal is to be back for 2014 in Sochi," she said in an interview that aired Monday. "I have plenty of time to be ready for Sochi."

Although she said she initially thought her injury was going to be worse, she never thought it was going to be the end of her career. "I feel like I have a lot more left to do," she said.

Vonn, 28, is currently undergoing twice daily one-hour physical therapy sessions and told Lauer that she hopes to be back on skis as soon as November. But she isn't rushing things. "If I trained a week before the Games, I would be fine," she said. When asked if she would be able to start skiing again after her horrific accident without fear, Vonn didn't hesitate. "I know I can," she said. "That's just who I am."
