‘Beautiful Creatures’ Star Alice Englert Defends Kristen Stewart

Hot up-and-coming actress Alice has stood up to defend Kristen from her haters, and she even complemented Kristen’s acting. Way cool!

Alice Englert and Kristen Stewart have a lot in common, as they are both young, Hollywood actresses who star in huge film franchises about paranormal love, and so it is no surprise that they have been compared to each other! Alice, 18, is the hot new star of Beautiful Creatures, which tells the love story of Lena, who moves to a small town where she meets the mysterious Ethan. Sound familiar? In a new interview, Alice talks about the comparisons to Twilight, and she talks about how “great” an actress Kristen is. Alice also admits that she feels bad for Kristen, 22, because of all the people “scrutinizing” her. Read on for all the details.

Alice Englert Talks About Comparisons To Kristen Stewart

If you don’t recognize Alice’s face now, you will soon! Beautiful Creatures is set to hit theaters on Feb. 14, and Alice plays Lena Duchannes, a girl with mysterious powers who moves to a small town and falls in love with Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich). It sounds just like the love story between Bella and Edward!

However, Alice is quick to say that while Twilight is the original supernatural romance film, BC has it’s own unique charm:

“It [Twilight] opened the supernatural genre up to a new audience, but this film is different,” Alice told Vogue UK. “I haven’t seen all of the Twilight films, but Beautiful Creatures has a sense of humour and wit to it – at least that’s how it approaches the fantasy world. I wouldn’t have been able to take it seriously otherwise. And as for the Kristen Stewart comparisons, I just don’t think that’s fair. I thought she was great in On The Road and Into The Wild. But she’s got enough people scrutinising her without me adding my take.”

It’s cute that Alice prefers Kristen’s smaller indie films like Into The Wild over the huge blockbuster that is Twilight, and that she will only say nice things about Kristen as an actress.

And the similarities don’t just end with their film choices, as both Alice and Kristen’s parents work in the film industry, and both girls have starred in movies with a Fanning sister! Kristen was in both The Runaways and Breaking Dawn with Dakota Fanning, while Alice starred in Rosa & Ginger with Elle Fanning.

Beautiful Creatures sounds like it’s going to be an awesome movie — will this be what we need to fill the void in our lives since The Twilight Saga ended?
