‘Carrie Diaries’ Scoop: When We’ll Meet Miranda, Samantha & Charlotte

Showrunner Amy B. Harris confirms that we will meet Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte on ‘The Carrie Diaries.’ Find out when!

Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) introduced herself back into our lives on the series premiere of The Carrie Diaries on Jan. 13. While I absolutely loved the premiere, I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic over the absence of Carrie’s friends, from the original series Sex and the City, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte. Luckily, they won’t be MIA for long!

“Let’s get to know Carrie [first] and see her world,” showrunner Amy B. Harris said Jan. 12 at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena, California. “And then yes, I definitely thought of different ways we will met her three other friends. I’ve thought a lot about that.”

There’s also a reason for not yet knowing the girls.

“I wanted to meet her before she had sex, before she fell in love and before she met Manhattan,” said Amy. “I really wanted to explore that in the first season.”

While the girls are AWOL at the moment, one element that will seem familiar is the fact that Carrie is a bit of a basket case.

“This Carrie is damaged and afraid and we’re going to see that play out in her first love relationships,” said Amy.

Luckily for AnnaSophia, the original Carrie, Sarah Jessica Parker, gave her blessing before the series premiered. “She sent me a very lovely note kind of giving me her blessing and encouraging me and saying how dear the part was for her,” AnnaSophia said. “It meant a lot.”
