‘Lying Game’ Season Premiere Recap: Rebecca & Sutton Plot Their Revenge

Plus, a mysterious stranger arrives in town — and, of course, he has ties to Rebecca.

TV’s most complicated show — seriously, The Lying Game is like Lost meets Homeland meets a brain hemorrhage — returned for its second season Jan. 8, and it’s now more twisted than ever. With Alec (Adrian Pasdar) still in jail, Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) spent the hour scheming with Sutton (Alexandra Chando) to win back the loves of their lives, while taking down their enemies in the process.

Sutton, of course, has her sights set on the grade-A man meat known as Ethan Whitehorse (Blair Redford). She tried faking an ankle sprain to get closer to him, and when that didn’t work, she resorted to plan B: honesty! She confessed that she’s still in love with him, and that she knows deep down — like, way deep down — he still loves her, too. Naturally, he rejected her, as he’s only got eyes for her twin sister Emma.

Well, it turns out Sutton may have an easier time than she thinks winning Ethan’s affections, as Emma is clearly moving on with Thayer (Christian Alexander). He gave her big speech about how rare it is to find a genuine girl, and she looked ready to jump his nerdy little bones. (And who wouldn’t?)

Rebecca’s plan, meanwhile, is working like a charm. After cluing Kristen (Helen Slater) in on more details of her affair with Ted (Andy Buckley), the ‘happy couple’ got into a very public fight — right in the middle of Laurel’s (Allie Gonino) performance. Cut to Rebecca, sipping champagne. Like a bitch.

But while most couples in town were falling apart, Mads (Alice Greczyn) managed to snag a good guy… or so she thinks. She spent much of the episode getting cozy/naked with Jordan (Ryan Rottman), the new motorcycle-riding bad boy in town — move over, Ethan — but there’s one tiny detail she isn’t yet aware of: Jordan is Rebecca’s son! Which means he’s technically her step-brother! Which means incest! (OK, I’ve officially run out of exclamation points, but that’s super disturbing.)
