Fran Drescher personally invited singer Cyndi Lauper to guest star on her TV Land sitcom, Happily Divorced, as Fran's childhood friend Kiki. And no wonder, since the two share the same true colors.

"Cyndi's a very real person from the same part of the world that I come from," Drescher says. "She's Italian, and I grew up with Jews, Italians and Irish, so we're cut from the same cloth." As are their characters, whom Drescher describes as "flirty girls from Queens."

Trouble erupts in the December 26 episode when Fran encourages Kiki to ditch her stodgy fiancé for a waiter at an Italian restaurant, sparking the ire of Kiki's mother (Renée Taylor, who played Drescher's mom on The Nanny). "I talk Kiki into going for love over security," Drescher says. "And Renée gets mad at me, which fans of The Nanny should love."
