Golden Globe Nominees React! Who Said What?

Dec 13 2012, 12:06pm CST | by

Some of TV’s biggest stars and producers were treated to an extra-early wake-up call Thursday morning, but they didn’t mind because of what came along with it: a Golden Globe nomination! Stunned, appreciative and downright delighted about the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s nod, this year’s nominees let TVLine know what they think about the honor.

Here’s what the actors and showrunners we’ve talked to so far have had to say — keep checking back from more throughout the day!

127950_1188r1Connie Britton on her Drama Actress nomination for Nashville: “I’ve never been nominated for a Golden Globe before. This was really honestly not even on my radar. I’m kind of shocked and over the moon about it. This show is so much work. It’s so ambitious. It’s so demanding — for everybody. Our poor crew, I practically cry for them every day as I cry for myself. [Laughs] So it is nice to get this nomination. And it’s awesome that [co-star] Hayden [Panettiere] was nominated. I feel like we’re going to go represent.”

Greg Berlanti, co-creator and executive producer of Political Animals, on the show’s TV-movie or Miniseries nomination: “It’s incredibly exciting. We are all so proud of Political Animals and grateful for the cast, crew and every executive at USA and Warner Horizon who helped make the show great. And finally we’re thankful for everyone at the HFPA for recognizing our efforts. It’ll be my first time going so I’m especially excited… and also curious to see if the liquor is as free-flowing as it seems on TV.”

Don CheadleDon Cheadle on his Comedy or Musical Series Actor nomination for House of Lies: ”I’m over the moon for the nom. This is a great show and a great cast and this is a recognition of all of us… But mostly me.”

Matt LeBlanc on his Comedy or Musical Series Actor nomination for Episodes and the show’s Comedy or Musical Series nod: It’s an incredible honor to be nominated again for a show that I am so proud to be a part of. And I am thrilled that the show has been recognized, as well, because everyone involved works so hard.  Thank you, Hollywood Foreign Press.”

ggreax_greenfieldMax Greenfield on his Supporting Actor nomination for New Girl: ”Holy s—t! It wasn’t even on my radar. I went to sleep fine last night… It would’ve been nice if the show was nominated, because it means you get to spend the entire night with your cast. I’m sure it’ll be just like the Emmys – me, [nominated co-star] Zooey [Deschanel] and [Girls'] Lena Dunham. We got to sit next to each other, and we had so much fun.”

Mandy Patinkin on his Supporting Actor nomination for Homeland: “I am thrilled to be a part of this company. Working on Homeland has been one of the joys of my life. We have such gifted writers — I have to pinch myself every day that I get to be a part of this company. Still – the real big news we are all waiting for is [co-star] Claire [Danes’] baby. When I get that call, the fireworks will really start.”

GalleryDamian Lewis on his Drama Actor nomination for Homeland: “Just so happy to have a really good reason to stop Christmas shopping for a day. Opening a bottle immediately to celebrate my Golden Globe nomination for Homeland. I’m thrilled that Claire and Mandy were also nominated for their performances, and look forward to celebrating with the whole cast in Los Angeles in January. Thank you HFPA!”
