Governor Mitt Romney has backed away from his offer to appear on the very heavily left-tilting female-dominated ABC talk show The View.
Of course, there is one co-host who is known to be an ardent Republican, but her voice is usually brushed under the rug by the much more boisterous women.
Because Romney has made numerous gaffes over the last couple months, and he certainly doesn’t want to jeopardize the bump in the polls he has been receiving since this month’s first presidential debate, he decided it wasn’t worth the risk.
“Gov. Romney was supposed to be on with us this Thursday with Ann Romney. We were looking forward to it. Over the weekend, his people said that he had scheduling problems and would not be coming on with us. Nor at this point did he feel that he could reschedule,” Barbara Walters explained on the air.
“We are happy to have Mrs. Romney on with us. We are sorry that we won’t have Governor Romney and that’s the situation…He can change his mind and we hope he does. It would be our pleasure to have him on the program,” she continued.
Romney’s camp probably scheduled the appearance when he was very sluggish in the polls, with the mindset of things couldn’t get any worse, but now that he is leading in some polls, things are very different.
