Late night TV show host Jimmy Fallon decided to give a nod to classic TV on Tuesday night’s show, with a medley of sitcom theme songs over the last 40 years. He was joined by the episode’s guests, the stars of the new show Guys with Kids.
As a segue into the performance, Fallon noted that he is the one who sings the theme song for Guys with Kids, but he said that a lot of new sitcoms these days don’t even have that defined, iconic opening to the show.
“I think it’s something that’s going away from our world. I grew up with that world,” he said.
So in another one of the show’s many musical numbers that it has done over the years, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon grabbed a microphone and sang a special composition that spanned some of the most classic TV tunes of all time.
The medley featured the themes from Good Times, Friends, The Golden Girls, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Happy Days, and Cheers, and ended with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the classic hat-toss.
Some of the other special musical performances that have appeared on Late Night over the years have included a rendition of the song “Friday” with Stephen Colbert and Taylor Hicks, and a dramatic music video of “We’re Not Gonna Take It” with the cast of Parks & Recreation.
