The next season of The X Factor, production of which is already well underway before the TV series begins airing, will feature Justin Bieber. Apparently judge L.A. Reid has tapped the teen sensation to be the mentor for his group of contestants.
One of the parts of the X Factor format that differs from American Idol is the fact that once contestants reach a certain point in the competition, they have the privilege of being mentored by a celebrity. The idea is that the celebrity can help guide the novice performers through the trials and tribulations of being under the spotlight, and give them advice for perfecting the art of singing.
So, somehow, Justin Bieber fits in with that strategy.
Bieber’s involvement with the show was all but confirmed when he sent the following message on Twitter: “Long day but great day. @LA_Reid @ScooterBraun just like old times!”
As for the other celebrity mentors that will be showing up, freshman judge Demi Lovato has reportedly joined up with fellow teen icon Nick Jonas.
So far, no rumblings have surfaced about who the other new judge, Britney Spears, has chosen to help with her team. Simon Cowell’s team mentor also has not been leaked.
The X Factor begins September 12, airing at 8:00 PM, 7:00 PM Central.
